It’s true that precious metals buyers who are spending large amounts of money can typically expect to pay just a bit less than someone making a more modest purchase. Discounts can range from ½% up to 1.5%. There is no “set in stone” formula for discounts, but normally you should not expect to pay less than our in-store posted board prices unless you are spending $50,000 or more. The amount we are able to discount will also depend on the product selection and supply and demand factors at the time of purchase. We are happy to explain in further detail with any existing or potential customer contemplating a purchase.

Your method of payment (cash, check, bank wire) will not impact your ability to obtain a discount. We do price match or beat two of the biggest online sellers 99% of the time, and while I will not mention them by name here, we gladly will tell you who they are when you call or visit – if you ask us. We will not price match the lowest prices you might find on eBay as seller quality can vary widely and also promotions are sometimes offered that can’t be beat because everyone involved is actually losing money, knowingly and willingly for promotional reasons. Huge warehouse style companies that have recently offered gold bars for sale at very good prices might also not be matched because we are professionals across all popular precious metals without limitations, and as such, we don’t try to sell you toilet paper in bulk. So you have to decide who you would rather deal with here; the big box store or the real day in / day out professionals.

On the other side of the coin, when you are selling precious metals, expect to get a little bit more per ounce if you are selling $50,000 or more in a single transaction. I often draw a comparison to the auto industry but it applies to almost every industry, quantity buyers and sellers get better prices. You will pay more for your 2025 Toyota Camry then will Hertz or Avis. It’s the reality of economics that drives the bottom line. Keep in mind too some companies, Pegasus included, will reward their “regulars” and most loyal customers with better prices – so it pays to build a relationship.
